Vice President of Operations
Prior to joining QPS in 2000, Kumar Ramu held positions at CoCensys and Purdue Pharma as Group Leader in the discovery, preclinical and clinical drug development departments of DMPK, as well as in toxicology and pharmaceutical sciences. Ramu has been involved in ERC/IND/CTX filings and regulatory meetings, as well as on drug development project teams with involvement in CMC manufacturing and toxicology. Ramu received his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the University of Mississippi, and obtained post-doctoral training in toxicology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Senior Director of Bioanalytical Research
Yuan-Shek Chen joined QPS in 1998 as Senior Bioanalytical Scientist, and is currently serving as Senior Director of Bioanalytical Research, where he is responsible for all bioanalytical activities. During his tenure with QPS, he has been responsible for setting up the dedicated DMPK bioanalytical unit and was also instrumental in establishing QPS Taiwan operations. Chen received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his post-doctoral training from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Director of Bioanalytical GLP
Yongdong Zhu joined QPS in 1999 immediately after receiving his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, specializing in mass spectrometry, from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He has accumulated extensive experience in method development, validation and sample analysis supporting preclinical and clinical studies. His recent responsibilities include overseeing internal operations in method validation and samples analysis of NCE studies. Prior to joining QPS, Zhu held various scientific positions in Yanshan Petrochemical Corporation including Senior Research Chemist and Group Leader.
Director of Bioanalytical GLP
Jamie Zhao joined QPS in 2006 as Head of Analytical Research and was promoted to Director of Bioanalytical GLP. Prior to joining QPS, Zhao was a Senior Research Fellow at Merck Research Laboratories and a Senior Research Scientist at ABS, Inc. In addition, he has authored approximately 30 peer-review journal publications and over 60 scientific meeting presentations/abstracts in the areas of mass spectrometry, bioanalysis and pharmacokinetics. Zhao received his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and received post-doctoral training from Purdue University.
Project Manager
Eric van Ingen joined QPS in 2000 as an Assistant Research Associate. Since that time, Eric has worked in the Bioanalytical Department as a Principal Investigator and as a Group Leader overseeing the QPS Sample Coordination Team, the Report Team and the Archives. Currently, van Ingen serves as a Project Manager for a number of clients. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in analytical chemistry from the University of Delaware.
BA Operations Manager
Linda Whitmarsh joined QPS in September 2006. As Bioanalytical Operations Manager for QPS, she is responsible for coordination of all Bioanalysis Support Team functions that provide timely customer service as it relates to study requirements, timelines and communications. Since 1996, Linda worked in DuPont Pharmaceuticals as the Operations Manager for the Sustiva® Franchise, and was responsible for the coordination of the expanded access program, pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities, in addition to coordinating the HIV & Aids Medical Education Programs within DuPont. Prior to joining DuPont, Linda worked for the American Institute for Public Service as Director of Media Relations for the Points of Light Foundation in support of White House Initiatives.
Group Leader
Hongkun Liang joined QPS in 2002 as a Research Scientist. Liang has more than seven years of LC-MS/MS bioanalysis experience in the areas of GLP assay development and validation with specialization in the areas of automation and instrumentation implementation. At QPS, he has led numerous projects where he developed and validated more than 50 small molecules assays across hundreds of studies. Liang received his B.S. and master degrees in chemical engineering from Tsinghua University in China and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Principal Scientist
Yuwen Zhao joined QPS in 2004 as a Research Scientist. Prior to joining QPS, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at University of Delaware and has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications during his research. He has extensive experience in developing LC-MS/MS methods to quantify a variety of small molecules with specialization in chiral separations. Since joining QPS, he has developed and validated many challenging assays that have been used in hundreds of studies. Zhao received his Ph.D. in physics from Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain and his master's of science in chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China.

Jerry Cao joined QPS in 2003 as a Research Scientist and was promoted to Group Leader of Bioanalytical in 2007. Since joining QPS, he and his team of highly productive scientists have validated many assays and managed their use to analyze samples from hundreds of studies. Cao received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware.

Vice President of Translational Medicine
LingSing Chen joined QPS in 2005 as Executive Director of Molecular Biology and is currently serving as the Vice President of Translational Medicine. She has played an instrumental role in building and expanding QPS’ capabilities in genotyping, expression profiling, PD biomarkers and oligonucleotide-based bioanalytical service areas. Prior to joining QPS, Chen held various research and management positions at Wyeth and other biotech research organizations, where her teams were involved in gene discovery, target validation, assay development, HTS, lead optimization, preclinical development and clinical genetic analysis. Chen received a Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton University.
Director of ImmunoBioanalysis
Prior to joining QPS in 2002, Hui Zhang obtained medical training from West China University Medical Sciences. Between China and the U.S., Zhang has accumulated more than 15 years of pharmaceutical and basic research experience, including posts at Peking Union Medical College, Mount Sinai, Cornell University and DuPont Pharmaceuticals. She was involved in the development of two hepato protective drugs and co-authored more than 20 research papers in drug metabolism and toxicity, iron homeostasis, neuroscience and oxidative process. Since joining QPS, she has led numerous projects that developed, adapted and validated nearly 50 ELISA and cellular assays, which have been applied to the analysis of protein drug and biomarkers for hundreds of studies.
Group Leader and Head of PK Bioanalysis
Yuyan (Joy) He joined QPS in 2002 with training in Clinical Medicine and research experience in molecular biology. Since joining QPS, Joy has been involved in the assay development, validation in the Immunoanalytical/Biomarker area and has been supporting preclinical and clinical studies for various sponsors. Joy is currently serving as the Group Leader and Head of PK Bioanalytical group in the Department of Translational Medicine. Joy received her medical bachelor degree from Medical School of Peking University, China and her M.S. in molecular biology from University of Delaware.
Group Leader and Head of Immunogenicity
Honglue (Holly) Shen joined QPS in 2005 as Research Scientist and is currently serving as the Group Leader and Head of Immunogenicity in the Department of Translational Medicine. Her team has worked and expanded QPS' capability in immunogenicity assessment, neutralizing antibody activity evaluation and cell-based assays. Prior to joining QPS, Shen worked for ProMetic BioSciences (USA), Inc. in the area of research and product development. Shen received her Ph.D. in pharmacology from Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences at Beijing and her postdoctoral training in immunology from North Carolina State University.
Group Leader and Head of Pharmacogenomics
Charles Saginario joined QPS in 2005 as Senior Research Scientist and was promoted to Group Leader of Pharmacogenomics in 2008. Prior to joining QPS, Saginario held the position of Research Scientist at the Women’s Health Research Institute at Wyeth, where he helped develop potential treatments for osteoporosis. He also served as a Research Associate at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he examined the molecular basis of secondary leukemias in infants. Saginario received his B.S. in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D. in molecular cell biology from Yale University.
Group Leader and Head of Efficacy and Safety Biomarkers
Susan Carr Zondlo joined QPS in 2008 and is currently serving as the Group Leader and Head of Efficacy and Safety Biomarkers in the Department of Translational Medicine. Prior to joining QPS, Zondlo held senior research scientist positions at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb and the University of Delaware, where she also served as an adjunct professor of molecular biology and biochemistry. Zondlo brought QPS extensive experience in the research areas of oncology, inflammatory disease and cardiovascular disease. Zondlo received her B.A. in biology from Rice University and her Ph.D. in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from Yale University.
