Benjamin Chien, Ph.D.
Chairman, President and CEO of QPS Holdings, LLC
Dr. Benjamin Chien founded Quest Pharmaceutical Services in 1995 as a single-site CRO focused on bioanalysis services. Under Dr. Chien’s guidance, QPS has had tremendous success. He now heads the three entities that constitute QPS Holdings, LLC:

QPS Delaware in Newark, Delaware, focuses on bioanalysis, DMPK and translational medicine services.

QPS Bio-Kinetic in Springfield, Missouri, offers early-phase clinical services.

QPS Taiwan in Taipei, Taiwan, offers clinical and bioanalysis services to Asian and international markets.
In 2008, Dr. Chien was the recipient of the 2008 Delaware Bioscience Association Service Award in recognition of his multi-year contributions and financial support to the development of bioscience in Delaware. Dr. Chien is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bioscience Association and serves as an Advisor to the Chinese Bioscience Association in the San Francisco Bay area.
Dr. Chien began his pharmaceutical career at DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co. in the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Section where he built the LC-MS/MS group. While at DuPont Merck, he received the Summit Award for his contribution to the development of Sustiva®, an anti-viral drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of HIV. In addition, Dr. Chien is the co-inventor of a novel Ion Trap/Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer. Dr. Chien obtained his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry (mass spectrometry) from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Dr. T. Ben Hsu joined QPS in 2003 as Vice President, Finance and Control, and was promoted to CFO in 2005. Prior to joining QPS, he was Director of Global Finance Administration with Aventis Behring, a division of Aventis S.A. Before joining Aventis, he was with Lyondell Chemical Company (previously ARCO Chemical Company) where he held posts in a variety of functions, including research and development (R&D), business licensing, finance and accounting, planning and evaluation and financial control in manufacturing and supply chain management.
Dr. Hsu received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University and his master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Delaware, all in chemical engineering. He also earned an MBA in general administration and finance from Drexel University.
