History

The 2008 merger of Quest Pharmaceutical Services, a preclinical CRO, and Bio-Kinetic Clinical Applications, an early-phase clinical CRO, created QPS as we know it today. The foundation of this merger lies in our mutual belief and practice of quality, performance and service in our approach to help clients achieve a successful outcome.

Dr. Benjamin M. Chien founded Quest Pharmaceutical Services in 1995 to provide high quality bioanalytical LC-MS/MS contract services. QPS has posted impressive growth every year and has grown from a small molecule bioanalysis “shop” of three people to over 170 employees in the United States and Asia. Over the years, the company has added additional services, including ligand binding assays, preclinical DMPK and translational medicine research.

Established in 1994 in Springfield, Missouri, by Dale R. Bourg and David Koenigsfeld, Bio-Kinetic Clinical Applications began operations in a small 12-bed facility with only a few key team members. This team set the company culture, and this standard of excellence can still be experienced today. In response to the growing client base, in 2007 QPS Bio-Kinetic expanded into today’s 240-bed state-of-the-art clinical research facility.

As both companies headed into their second decades, we recognized that a union of our organizations provided an exciting opportunity for our sponsors to seamlessly transfer compound knowledge and efficiently move drug candidates from discovery through investigational new drug (IND) application to early-phase clinical studies.
